How can I get saved?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life! John 3:16

Who? – God…

How much? – SO…

What – loved…

Who? the world…

Action – that He gave…

This verse, John 3:16 describes the motivation, the heart that God has for each person in the world. When He saw you, when He saw me and everyone that has come before and all who are yet to come before the glorious return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, this describes how God thinks and feels towards us.

In this decision of love, in fact, God wanted us to know He doesn’t just love us, He “so” loved us. This describes the intense passion that motivated Him to make a way for you and me to come back into relationship with Him and have a better life, not just in eternity but moreover to start right now in your life on earth and on into eternity.

You may ask, “If God loves me and everyone else, why is there pain and suffering? Or you may ask, “Why have I experienced pain and suffering?” This question could be answered by volumes of books, however, let’s go back to the beginning and in our brief time together, look at how humanity started, where things went wrong and how God made a way to make things right again!

God wanted a family. He wanted children that He could love and bless, that would of their own free will, choose to love Him back. When Adam and Eve made a choice to disobey God by listening to Satan (Genesis 3), they opened the door to sin and destruction. God is holy and He knows how destructive sin is; He cannot tolerate sin in His presence. Satan hated mankind because he hated God. So if you are a parent who loves their kids, and someone wanted to hurt you, what would hurt you more? Hurting you or hurting your kids? Given that Satan really can’t hurt God, other than through hurting us, His children, Satan’s plan was to destroy the relationship between God and us, the children He created.

John 10:10 tells us – The thief comes only to kill, steal and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that you might have life, and that more abundantly!

So starting in the Garden of Eden when Satan tempted Adam and Eve to sin against God, we see Satan’s plan of destruction for mankind and it continues today. Each of us has inherited the sin nature, that thing inside of each of us that causes us to rebel, be selfish and want our own way. So God’s plan was to give us a new nature and make us new creations; however, He couldn’t just give it to us because He is a holy God. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) so He had to figure out a way to have our sin paid for so He could save us from the sin nature within us.

So He gave… His only begotten Son…

God’s giving cost Him. He didn’t send another animal or an angel, but He choose the most precious person to Him – His Son. That is how special you and I are to Him; He cared to send His very best for us. So He sent His perfect, sinless Son who came to this earth to pay the penalty for our sin and to take our place as our substitute on the cross.

…that whosoever believed in Jesus would not perish, but have everlasting life!

If we would receive Jesus, He would give us the right to once again be called the children of God. (John 1:12) He would pay the price for our sin to give us a brand new start, to be born again and (John 3:3) to have the Spirit of God come into us and make all things new! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Romans 3:23 NLT

As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one.” Romans 3:10

And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment. Hebrews 9:27

Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. Romans 14:12

The wages of sin is death! (Romans 6:23a) Sin creates separation from God.

We are no longer separated from God who created us and loves us dearly.

You cannot save yourself

He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5

All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us. Revelation 1:5

Receive Jesus

But to all who believed him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12

Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart

That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

Start reading the Bible – You will start receiving the wisdom of God in your life like never before!

Have a Prayer Life – God wants to hear and answer your prayers. It’s also a time to learn to hear His voice so He can guide your life

Be a part of a local church – You don’t have to walk this new life alone. God has provided pastors, and brothers and sisters in Christ who are on the same journey to become more like Christ

Tell others about your salvation – Let people know what Jesus means to you now. Share with them the love, peace and joy He has deposited into your heart!

Get Baptized in the Holy Spirit – Receive more power and your own personal prayer language that strengthens you. Acts 1:8 (More about that later)

Get Water Baptized – It is a picture and spiritual experience of your old life being washed away and starting a new life in Christ.

And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from[a] a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 3:21

If you would like to receive Jesus Christ and His salvation, please pray this prayer below…

I come to You Jesus, to give You my heart and my life. I confess You as the Lord of my life instead of myself. I ask You to forgive me of my sins and make me clean. I ask this because I believe You paid the price for every wrong and sin I’ve ever committed. I now receive into my heart Your righteousness and declare I am now saved and Your child!

Welcome to the family of God and your new life in Christ!
