Follow the Star

“Wise men still seek Him” is one of my favorite sayings from the story of Jesus’ birth. Wise men from the East were seeking Jesus by following a star. This particular star was shining brighter than the rest of them. It did not move. It pointed to the Person. Wise men moved by following that star until they found this amazing Person – the Savior of the World, Jesus Christ.

The bible is God’s star. It shines with God’s full light that illuminates our path. It’s heavenly, since it is inspired by God himself, but most importantly, it serves a purpose. That purpose is to reveal Jesus. Jesus addressed the Pharisees and rebuked them stating that they were studying the Bible. However, the Bible is about revealing Jesus, therefore, they were missing the point. It is possible to love the Bible, but not love the author.

Many people saw the star, wise men were the only ones who followed it. The bible is that star that should lead us to an encounter, not more information. Click To Tweet

To experience an encounter, we must be willing to follow it’s light. Following requires moving. The star will not move. We must! The bible does not change, it is given to us to change us. That is a bit painful. There can be no encounter with God without MOVING along with the LIGHT shown by the Holy Spirit.

Pharisees and Herod all stayed in Jerusalem and told the wise men, go and find where this Jesus is and then tell us about it. It is the same attitude that Israel had when they had sent Moses off to the mountain to find God only to return and tell them all about it. God does not want a representative on our behalf. He died to have us unclose, but not at a distance.

An encounter with God will change your life. It starts with you not just looking at God's word, but moving in its direction, until you see Jesus. Click To Tweet

Once the wise men found Jesus, they gave Him worship and gifts. Why? Because He is the King. He is more than a savior and deliverer to whom we come with our sin and demons. He is born a king. He preached kingdom and He died as a king. He is soon coming as a king. When we have an encounter with the majesty of Jesus – our life will not be the same. As with wise men, so it will be with us. We will not walk the same road again. We will be led by God’s spirit in our dreams, visions and prophecies as they were then.

When you encounter God, your life will never be the same. Jacob limped. Moses’ face shone. Three Hebrew boys were not burned. Zachaes was converted. Blind Bartemous started to see. When you put the Star of God over your life and follow it, it will lead you to an encounter.
